NLP
Neuro linguistic programming (NLP) is a powerful tool to understanding and aiding communication and thought processes. It can assist people to view themselves and others in a more positive and realistic way, as well as to build rapport with others, and work towards goals. I generally use NLP as part of a plan of intervention, as in conjunction with hypnotherapy, it is especially effective. It is particularly helpful for relationship and lifestyle issues, and personal and career development. It is often very effective for depression and phobias, and is also used for tailoring hypnotic trance to the client’s needs and preferences.
NLP is invaluable where people have anxieties about, or difficulty going into, hypnotic trance, and can be used in its own right for therapy and personal goals.
Personally, my favourite way to use NLP is to enrich the use of the imagination and its ability to have a positive impact on the issues you are experiencing, by guiding you through visualisations and relaxation in all of your sensory modalities. It is generally considered most people have one primary sensory modality through which they experience the world and express themselves, such as being primarily visual or auditory. However, in my experience almost anybody can use all of their senses to imagine, to a greater or lesser extent. This has a positive impact on the power and richness of what they experience, and promotes flexibility and creativity in making changes.
